Joshua DeSon (they/them)
PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Josh is a fifth-year doctoral student in the clinical psychology program. Their research interests include non-suicidal self-injury, suicidal thoughts/behaviors, LGBTQIA+ microaggressions, and resilience factors such as gender euphoria in sexual and gender minority youth and adolescents. Prior projects of theirs explore risk and resilience factors for NSSI in marginalized populations, gender role conflict and internalized sexual stigma in sexual minority men, and clinical outcomes of LGBTQIA+ microaggressions.

Karolina Kozak (she/they)
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Karolina is a third-year pre-med undergraduate student at Fordham University majoring in integrative neuroscience with a concentration in cellular and molecular neuroscience. Her interests include changes in neuronal physiology in development, mental health and neural circuitry, and LGBTQ+ health. Prior and current research endeavors have included studying neurosurgical interventions for individuals with severe OCD, the effects of sleep disturbance in suicide, and clinical outcomes of LGBTQ+ microaggressions.

Olivia Dean (she/her)
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Olivia Dean is a current third-year undergraduate at Fordham University Rosehill. She is a Psychology major and Marketing minor at the Gabelli School of Business. Olivia is interested in working to improve mental health resources of gender minority individuals related to self-injury and suicide in New York City. Outside of research, Olivia enjoys reading non-fiction, photography, and spending time with her pets.

Nicole Aubort (she/her)
UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Nicole is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Fordham pursuing a B.S. in Psychology, a B.A. in Spanish Studies, and a minor in Biology. Her research interests include alternative and emerging pharmacology, protective and risk factors for LGBT youth, and mood and eating disorders in adolescents. She is writing her undergraduate thesis this semester and hopes to attain an MD or PhD degree in the future.
